Be Smart About Credit

Be Smart about Credit is part of a series of FREE financial literacy classes for non-native English speakers. Come learn about the U.S. credit system, how to use credit to improve your life, and to protect yourself from scams! The class meets for 2 hours at the North-East Branch with 3 different sessions to choose from in August.

English for Vocational Trades - Carpentry

Come and learn the math and language skills necessary to pass the Kansas City/St. Louis Carpenter’s Regional Council Apprenticeship Entry Exam. This class is for nonnative English speakers who are committed to pursuing a career in carpentry.

Conversation Club

Come and practice speaking English! We welcome people of all skill levels. This club will spend time in pairs and small groups playing games and having guided discussions to work on spoken English fluency. The club will be at 8AM on Tuesdays beginning August 22nd until December 17th at the Woodland Early Learning Community School on 711 Woodland Ave, KCMO 64106. We hope to see you there!

English for Citizenship

This 12-week course meets every Wednesday night from 6 – 8 p.m. at the Central Library. It is designed to help develop the language skills necessary to pass the USCIS naturalization test. Students will be taught the vocabulary, grammar, and pronunciation found on the N-400 form and the 100 civics questions. The next round of English for Citizenship begins on August 21, 2019.

Citizenship Interview Practice

Nervous about your Naturalization Interview? You can practice your interview for FREE at any of our ten library locations. Volunteers are standing by to help you practice speaking, reading and writing English along with correctly answering the 100 USCIS Civics Questions.

English in Action

English in Action helps intermediate to advanced English language learners practice their English. They will meet one-to-one with a mentor 2 hours per week at any of our ten library branches.

Money Smart Kansas City offers information and links to several area resources for immigrants and refugees.
